The US Geological Survey and the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI) have begun a series of six online workshops on laser spectrometry under the umbrella title "Laser Specs for Field Hydrology and Biogeochemistry: Lessons Learned and Future Prospects." They cover the use of laser spectrometry in hydrology and are open to the general public who wish to learn more. While watching the workshops, participants can also ask questions and posting comments on the discussion boards.

Two seminars remain to be broadcast:

  •  "Tracking Raindrops" using laser-based isotope measurements to track hydrological processes in real time [February 19]
  • High-frequency water isotope monitoring of complex groundwater/river water interactions along the Columbia River in south-central Washington [February 24]

There will also be a virtual poster session on February 28, for which people are invited to submit their own abstracts now, with February 17 deadline day.
