Ultra-sensitive vibrational spectroscopy
[January 15, 2010 Ahmet Ali Yanik]

A team of researchers from Boston University and Tufts University, both in MA, USA, have recently published a paper about the IR detection of a vibrational signature from zeptomole levels of proteins.

They developed a nanoplasmonic technique adaptable to any commercial microscope, boosting the signal levels to 100,000 times for absorption spectroscopy.
