Background
We have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral associate with expertise in near infrared spectroscopy of scattering media and chemometric methods to join a highly productive, multidisciplinary team of other spectroscopists, engineers, physicians and physiologists to employ spectroscopic techniques for noninvasive measurement of blood and tissue chemistry. This position is funded by research grants from the US Army, NASA and private industry.
Qualifications
Experience with near infrared spectroscopy and chemometrics (PLS, PCA, neural networks) is required. Experience with biological materials is desirable. Previous work designing and/or testing new optical or spectroscopic instruments is helpful.
This position requires a PhD in chemistry, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field with strong mathematical training/experience. Excellent Matlab skills are required. Experience in other programming languages is desirable.

We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills to join us in this unique opportunity to develop noninvasive medical sensors for emergency medical care. The position is located in the Anesthesiology Department of a major Medical School located 50 miles west of Boston, MA.
