Developing Strategies for Screening Pesticides and Emerging Contaminant Residues in Food and Water Using a UPLC-QTOF Premier Mass Analyzer
- Broadcast on Wednesday, 25 February, 2009
- Duration: 1 hour
Webinar synopsis
Traditionally, target screening methods based on mass spectrometry (MS) combined with liquid chromatography (LC) have been applied in food and environmental analysis. LC Tandem MS in SRM mode is nowadays one of the preferred techniques for the determination of polar contaminants, and it is typically applied in target methods that rarely include more than two hundred analytes.
Another recent approach that uses full spectrum data information is Liquid Chromatography / Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (LC/TOFMS), which is sensitive and performs accurate mass measurements. These capabilities are needed in order to detect not only priority known pollutants but also other unknown contaminants that could be a risk for human health. In addition, the high acquisition speed of TOF analysers makes it compatible with Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) that provides fast and high resolution separations that minimize matrix effects and render high mass spectra purity. |
