David Bradley is a chemist by training but sidestepped the laboratory in favour of science writing in 1989. He was winner of the Telegraph Young Science Writers' Award in 1992, a runner up in the CIA Awards for 1995 and received a Commendation in the 1997 Medical Journalism Awards. He has written for numerous publications including New Scientist, Science, The Scientist, BioMedNet, ChemWeb, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and many science magazines and websites.

He spent several years working as Deputy Editor of Chemical Communications, working evenings he built up professional contacts in the scientific community and the media. He went full-time freelance in the late 1990s.

In 2001, his Reactive Reports web site was short-listed for the Pirelli multimedia awards.

David was co-author with John Gribbin, Richard Dawkins et al. of A Brief History of Science, is a Chartered Chemist member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a full member of the Association of British Science Writers and the US National Association of Science Writers.

David lives with his wife and two children near Cambridge, England.
