Ocean Optics launches its first Elite Raman spectrometer

The Apex 785 Raman spectrometer has been announced by Ocean Optics, as the first in the Elite series of modular spectrometers which are designed to deliver superior performance in a compact and customizable format. The patented high-throughput virtual slit technology, licensed from Tornado Spectral Systems, allows for shorter integration times and faster measurements, eliminating trade-offs between throughput, resolution and spectral range. As a result, the instrument operates at a resolution of <10 cm^-1 over 780-1120 cm and a Raman shift range of >3800 cm^-1, with a typical dynamic range of 15,000:1.

The spectrometer is designed to be compatible with a range of lasers and accessories but is provided in a kit comprising the spectrometer, a 785 nm diode laser, a Raman probe, sample holder and SpectraSuite operating software.
