Molex, a US producer of electronic connectors, has launched a new product family of MediSpec non-magnetic RF (radio frequency) contacts and modules. The company will showcase the new products at the medical technology event MD&M West, which is taking place in Anaheim, California, US, on 10–12 February 2015.

‘Molex developed the non-magnetic versions to support the requirements of the medical imaging marketplace,’ explained Darren Schauer, product manager at Molex. ‘In the medical imaging field, interconnects made with ferrous materials can create interference problems that degrade image quality. Our affordable, high performing, non-ferrous versions actually enhance image quality and granularity, rendering scans and images more readable and accurate. This provides significant value for manufacturers of MRI and other types of diagnostic imaging equipment.’

The new RF non-magnetic contacts and modules are designed to align with the connector types and performance requirements of major MRI equipment manufacturers. Molex says that it is offering these contacts and modules at more affordable prices than non-magnetic versions currently offered by boutique vendors.
