Luxon ion source Canadian company Phytronix Technologies has unveiled the fastest process ever developed for mass spectrometry: the Luxon ion source. Phytronix has once again answered a growing demand from the pharmaceutical, forensic toxicology, environmental and food safety markets for a novel high-throughput process.

Based on the LDTD (Laser Diode Thermal Desorption) technology, the Luxon Ion Source is now powered by fiber-coupled optics to obtain more precision, accuracy and speed. This new technology offers greater performance and robustness in applications with very low sample volumes for quantitative analysis.

With the Luxon ion source, Phytronix has now crossed a new frontier: sample analysis in less than one second per sample with 24/7 runtime capability. By combining rapid liquid handling technology with a new Phytronix Automated LazWell Transfer Process and the Luxon ion source, Phytronix is now offering the fastest high throughput screening (HTS) workflow in the mass spectrometry market.

"This new chapter in analysis speed will bring about a significant change in the way our customers perform high throughput analysis. Our clients have asked for a process by which sample analysis can be achieved in less than one second and we have made it a reality," said Jean Lacoursière, president of Phytronix Technologies.
