UC Riverside chemists wins MS award

Yinsheng Wang, a professor of chemistry at the University of California, Riverside, has received the Biemann Medal from the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. The medal is awarded to an individual early in his or her career in recognition of significant achievement in basic or applied mass spectrometry, and is accompanied by a cash prize of $5000.

'I feel humbled to be the recipient of this year's Biemann Medal,' Wang said. 'This is a great recognition of our work by the mass spectrometry community.' Wang and his group use a range of mass spectrometry-based techniques, including liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, to study DNA damage and repair, and proteomics, including post-translational modifications.
