The BMSS Annual Meeting takes place this year with a new format and a classic seaside venue.

The meeting program has been designed to appeal to a wide range of users of mass spectrometers in academia, industry and hospitals.

The conference begins on Monday evening with opening lectures from Scott McLuckey – Purdue University, Indiana and Johnny Ball, one of TV’s greatest mathematicians – with a Welcome Mixer following .

The conference format on Tuesday and Wednesday consists of a plenary (Leigh Anderson - Plasma Proteome Institute, Washington D.C.) followed by separation into two parallel sessions of defined themes.

New innovations for 2013 include the afternoon Panel Discussions – one involving the delivery (or lack of) of biomarker discovery –the second, a seasoned debate on the future of immunoassay in clinical analysis, and the third – a debate on the future directions of Ambient Mass Spectrometry. All three feature industry leaders as panellists – a lively argument is guaranteed!

A full three hours is then devoted to the Poster Session, with posters classified by session title – with impressive cash prizes.

The Conference dinner will take place in the same venue, with Eastbourne’s finest offerings in the evening.

On Wednesday, after the early-morning swim in the sea, the conference continues with two parallel sessions and a special mass spectrometry training session intended for biomedical and clinical scientists, culminating in the closing plenary lecture presented by John Langley (University of Southampton) with poster prize presentation, at 16.00.
