A new report predicts that the global mass spectrometry market will increase at the CAGR of 8.7% from 2013-2018 to a value of $5.9 billion.

The greatest growth will be seen in the expanding market in Asia, particularly China and India, with some South American and African countries also having significant growth. The report examines the mass spectrometry market by technology, application and geography and is accompanied by company profiles, 73 tables and 17 figures.

Currently, the greatest market is the pharmaceuticals industry and one of the fastest growing areas is MALDI TOF MS due to its application in clinical diagnostics. One of the critical limiting factors is the high cost of the instrumentation and the dearth of qualified professionals to operate the systems.
