The M908 handheld mass spectrometer from US company 908 Devices has won three prestigious industry awards honoring innovation and technological prowess. It has received the NCT CBRNe Product Award from IB Consultancy, was named as one of the top 100 Analytical and Test products in R&D Magazine’s R&D 100 awards, and was recognized as the Best Chemical Detection Product or Solution in the Homeland Security Awards by Government Security Magazine.

The NCT CBRNe Awards recognized M908 with the Product Award, the most prestigious accolade given by the organization. The Product Award recognizes overall excellence in the CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives) community. After M908 was named as a nominee in 2014 and then went on to establish itself in the industry as the definitive user-friendly state-of-the-art handheld mass spectrometer, the judging panel felt that M908 could not be more worthy of recognition for the gap it fills in the first responder toolkit. 908 Devices is honored that M908 and the detection capabilities it offers to military and emergency workers has received this recognition.

The R&D 100 Awards, sometimes referred to as the ‘Oscars of Invention’, recognize the most significant proven technology advances across industry, academia and government-sponsored research and development in the past year. This year M908 was recognized for its unique capabilities within the Analytical/Test category.

The Homeland Security Awards, presented by Government Security Magazine, are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards covering the broad Homeland Security field. The award recognizes homeland security technology vendors and federal, state, county and municipal government agencies for their work and innovation dedicated to keeping American citizens safe. M908 was named as the 2015 Best Chemical Detection Product or Solution in industry.

“We are so honored to have our technology recognized by these three organizations, all judged by diverse panels, though all shared the same dedication to thoroughness in their evaluations,” said Kevin Knopp, CEO and co-founder of 908 Devices. “We are proud of our work with those who serve in emergency services, military and law enforcement – who each need accurate, reliable and actionable intelligence for the detection of chemical threats. Addressing that need, we have harnessed the powerful capabilities of mass spectrometry into a handheld device with a commitment to dramatically change the way these threats are detected and identified. These awards are further validation of our traction in delivering on that commitment.”
