Overview
The webinar will outline strategies for increased selectivity in food and environmental residue analysis by LC/MS/MS. Dr Ondrej Lacina from ICT Prague, Julia Jasak from Bayer Crop Science Monheim, Prof. Bruno Le Bizec from Laberca/Oniris Nantes as well as Dr Christof Lenz from AB SCIEX will explain how they use High Resolution MS/MS, Differential Ion Mobility Spectroscopy, and MS3 techniques to successfully eliminate chemical background or separate the analytes of interest from other interfering ions in order to achieve better limits of detection/quantitation in testing of samples with difficult matrices for harmful substances.

Biographies
Ondrej Lacina is a young scientist at the Department of Food Chemistry and Analysis of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague. He is an expert in LC-MS analysis and method development. He works on food safety and environmental research with an emphasis on the development of LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS methods for analysis of pesticide residues, mycotoxins, pharmaceuticals, halogenated compounds etc. He is involved in a variety of national and internationals research projects dealing with these compounds.
Julia Jasak studied Food Chemistry at the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany. At the moment she is a Ph.D. student and is working at the Bayer CropScience AG in Monheim. Here she is dealing with the analysis of highly polar and low molecular weight metabolites of plant protection compounds.
Bruno Le Bizec graduated as a Doctor in Analytical Chemistry (PhD, 1995), obtained his HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) in 2001 from Nantes University and became Professor in food safety in 2005. He is currently the Head of the French National Reference Laboratory LABERCA, Nantes, France. His main teaching area is linked to analytical chemistry / risk analysis in food safety. He was appointed Vice-Chair of the Contaminant panel of the French Agency for Food Safety (ANSES), FAO expert in JECFA, invited expert in EFSA (DACO emerging risks), national expert for the FVO (DG-SANCO). He is the author or co-author of 157 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 10 book chapters and more than 100 oral communications. Bruno Le Bizec received an award for his work on residue analysis at the Euroresidue V conference held in the Netherlands in May 2004.
Christof Lenz is currently working with AB SCIEX as a Support Manager for Pharma and Omics Applications for the EMEA region. After graduating from the University of Cologne with a Ph.D. in Analytical Organic Chemistry, Christof joined AB SCIEX (then PE Biosystems) as a Support Specialist for Mass Spectrometry Systems. Over the years Christof has developed expertise across a high number of mass spectrometry applications, including the analysis and quantitation of e.g. protein biomarkers. He has been supporting the QTRAP product line since its introduction in 2002 and helped to develop the MRM3 technology to application in 2008.
