Protea Biosciences has announced its new Mass Spec Imaging Center which is located at Morgantown, WV, USA. The MSIC aims to give customers and researchers access to several imaging technologies, including the recently developed laser ablation electrospray ionisation (LAESI DP-1000) system, for studies in metabolomics and proteomics. Other technologies available include a Waters Synapt™ G2 high resolution ion mobility/ TOF mass spectrometer, an ABI MALDI 4800 TOF/TOF™, and a Thermo LTQ Velos™, as well as sample storage capabilities, tissue sample preparation equipment and proprietary chemistries to enhance ionization efficiency.
The MSIC will be able to produce distribution profiles of compounds in tissues, biofilms, cell cultures, bacteria and fungi, specifically targeting groups of compounds such as drugs and their metabolites and biomarkers. The on-site personnel will be able to design and implement imaging projects and can provide training in imaging technologies and on-site or in-house technical support.
