Q Exactive

Traditionally, targeted peptide quantification studies have used a triple quadrupole (QQQ) mass spectrometer because of their high throughput capabilities and high sensitivity, allowing for large numbers of proteins to be quantified in a single LC/MS experiment. However, the transition from discovery to targeted verification and quantification can still be slow and cumbersome due to the transition between different mass spectrometer platforms.

In this webinar, new approaches to peptide-targeted quantification using high-resolution and accurate mass (HR/AM) mass spectrometry are introduced, together with the new Q Exactive high-performance benchtop quadrupole-Orbitrap LC-MS/MS.

The Q Exactive is the first commercially-available instrument to bring together quadrupole precursor selection and HR/AM Orbitrap mass analysis to deliver high confidence quantitative and qualitative (quan/qual) workflows.

Dr. Zhiqi HaoDr. Zhiqi Hao, currently a senior scientist in proteomics / protein mass spectrometry at Thermo Fisher Scientific, received her Ph.D. degree in biochemistry at Cornell University in 1998.

She developed a strong interest in proteomics and mass spectrometry during her post-doctorial training at Cornell and then joined Advion BioSciences afterwards, where she worked on mass spectrometry-based protein analysis under the leadership of Dr. Jack Henion.

Zhiqi joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2004. In the past few years at Thermo, Zhiqi has worked extensively on the development and applications of ETD technology. Her current emphasis includes quantitative proteomics and mass spectrometry-based protein drug analysis.
