The full portfolio of 28 journals published by The Royal Society of Medicine will be published by the international publishing house SAGE with immediate effect. The list includes journals that are published on behalf of other organisations, such as the European Health Management Association, the British Medical Ultrasound Society and the Medico-Legal Society.
As well as publishing the journals, SAGE will begin digitising the archives of all of the journals from their very first issues, where possible, until the present day. All of the journals will remain on HighWire and, in time, be integrated onto the SAGE Journals platform.
The RSM is also licensing its name and crest to SAGE, as well as the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, and SAGE will continue to use the RSM name and crest on all the journals, marketing them as RSM Journals.
Ian Balmer, Chief Executive of the Royal Society of Medicine, commented: "Our primary concern has been to guarantee the long-term future of the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine and the other journals published by RSM Press."
