The American Chemical Society has launched a competition for "chemistry ambassadors" to create a short video on some aspect of everyday chemistry that will help to promot communication with the general public. The competition is part of the celebrations of Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN), which is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

Entries should belong to one of two categories:

  • Your favourite chemistry tip
  • The chemistry behind the stuff in our everyday lives

The videos should be no more than two minutes and must be received by July 31, 2013. Winners will receive:

  • A trip to the 246th ACS National Meeting in Indianapolis
  • A ticket to C&EN’s 90th Anniversary event featuring Food Network star and renowned science communicator Alton Brown

The winning video will be featured in several places, including C&EN and the Bytesize Science YouTube channel of the ACS.
