These new masterpiece gratings that provide best (low) stray light and high efficiency are now available. These concave corrected holographic gratings are specially manufactured for best performance in the Model 234/302 optical geometry. One of the new gratings expands the instrument range into the non-vacuum UV-Vis region. With new coating, the other enhances performance in the vacuum ultraviolet region 100 to 200nm. They will allow customers to implement the instrument over a greater wavelength range with more efficiently.

Chelmsford, MA. September 25, 2012.

McPherson’s vacuum ultraviolet spectrometer, Model 234/302, is now available with improved efficiency over a wider range. Two new diffraction gratings are available. For the vacuum ultraviolet, the Aluminum Magnesium Fluoride coated grating is ideal for work from 100 to 200 nanometers. The new lower groove density Aluminum coated grating works best through non-vacuum UV-Vis region. These join the Platinum coated grating ideal for use at wavelengths shorter than 120 nanometers (>10eV.)

The various gratings extend the optimization of the 200mm focal length spectrometer over the 30 to 550 nanometer wavelength range. In combination with CCD detectors, adjustable slits, and f/4.5, the McPherson Model 234/302 provides efficient, sensitive data collection. It is useful for measurements of extreme, vacuum ultraviolet and UV-Vis radiation and emission spectra with sub-nanometer spectral resolution. Adjustable slit width provides for best light throughput and for better spectral resolution to resolve closely spaced spectral lines. Scanning gratings allow users to reach longer or shorter wavelengths and means to collect different simultaneous wavelength swaths for general purpose spectroscopy, plasma physics, and process monitoring without compromising resolution or signal strength.

Furnished with spectral calibration certificate, the McPherson spectrometer is available with standard light sources, detectors, reflective condenser optics, and vacuum differential sections. McPherson’s application specialists are available to help assure the ultraviolet spectrometer is ready for implementation in your specific application.
