Prozess Technologie, a high tech company operating out of St. Louis, Missouri, is offering pharmaceutical manufacturers a free sampling kit which they can use and return to the company for free testing by lithium-induced fluorescence (LIF). The test will check if the sample fluoresces, to see if it is suitable for LIF analysis, then will be returned to the pharmaceutical company. Positive samples will be given a detailed feasibility analysis.

The technology is currently the only full-spectrum LIF analysis available that has been designed for real-time, production environments. "We see a definite trend in pharmaceutical manufacturing toward using high-potency ingredients in low concentrations in today's pharmaceutical manufacturing, and these production lines can benefit greatly from the robustness, efficiency, and sensitivity which our PAT systems provide," stated Dr. Susan Bragg, CTO of Prozess Technologie.

LIF is attracting much attention from the pharmaceutical sector due to its ability to identify and quantify very low concentrations of ingredients and is several hundred times more sensitive than near-IR spectroscopy.
