The Food Safety Authority in the UK has teamed up with the Technology Strategy Board to offer funding for research into food safety. Interested parties can register with the TSB from 20 May 2013 for a share of the £0.5 million which has been set aside to support the research.

The target areas include:

  • the detection of allergens, contaminants and pathogens
  • improving quality assurance through the food chain
  • identifying declared and undeclared product ingredients, including adulterants
  • implementing protocols for food tracking
