A broad overview is provided of fluorescence techniques for in vivo cancer diagnosis and therapy monitoring in preclinical models, as well as clinical translation.

A team of scientists led by University of Wisconsin-Madison chemist John Berry has developed a technique that lets them freeze the action in a reaction catalysed by a dirhodium carbene complex long enough during a critical step so that they can see the fine details of the mechanism using UV spectroscopy and other techniques.

The fluorescence lifetime of wood cell walls was examined using time-correlated single photon counting to detect differences in lignin composition and measure the molecular environment within cell walls of normal and compression wood.
