Potential associations between histologic features of pediatric nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and estimated quantitative magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) parameters have been explored.

Small chromatographic peaks that are hidden by baseline noise can be made clearer by employing stochastic resonance, which involves the addition of a limited amount of additional noise. Researchers from China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Nanjing Changao Pharmaceutical Technology have reported an improved algorithm for the amplification of peaks using stochastic resonance, demonstrating its use with two different examples.

The use of multivariate data has allowed researchers from the Department of Food Science (FOOD) at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark to build a regression model of the analysis of whole grains at long near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths obtained with a supercontinuum laser. The research could improve our understanding of the chemistry of food ingredients with implications for improving bread and beer.
