The new journal ChemTexts launched in August 2014 by Springer is now calling for papers for its first issue, which will be published in 2015. Subtitled The Textbook Journal of Chemistry, it aims to provide educational texts that mirror our current state of knowledge, which represents "a completely new concept in scientific publishing," say Springer.

The journal will be published quarterly, with each issue comprising about 250 pages. All submissions will be peer-reviewed, unlike text books, to ensure that they are scientifically correct. and will be accepted if they represent significant improvements over existing textbook content.

Subject coverage is extensive, with papers invited in the following areas: Inorganic Chemistry; Physical Chemistry; Analytical Chemistry; Technical Chemistry; Environmental and Food Chemistry; Nuclear Chemistry; Theoretical and Computational Chemistry; Biochemistry and Chemical Biology; Nanotechnology; Energy and Security.
